“If the trees spoke … ” is a sound artwork (or soundscape) created by Candice Boyd, with contributions from other members of research team (Catherine Phillips, Jen Atchison & Libby Straughan). Diverse readers give voice to a series of emails sent to Melbourne trees, framed by environmental recordings of city and nonhuman places, and the artist’s imagined tree responses. The piece is comprised of podcast and binaural recordings, and is best listened to on headphones. It runs approximately 16 minutes.

'If the trees spoke...' is a soundscape created by Candice Boyd, with input from Catherine Phillips, Jennifer Atchison, and Libby Straughan. It is part of a research project (University of Melbourne, University of Wollongong) exploring people's feelings, concerns, and interactions with urban trees (see www.plantcities.com). It is comprised of binaural and podcast recordings of voice, city, and nonhuman environments. The included imagined responses by the artist add an auditory-tactile synaesthesia (ASMR) element. It runs approximately 16 minutes.
